Capricorns are thought to be ambitious, determined, realistic leaders. The animal representing for the Capricorn is the goat---probably not the most attractive idea for a tattoo. Think of a goat standing atop a tall mountain and all the struggles it took for it to finally get up there.
Also Capricorns are ruled by Saturn. Maybe a tattoo of the planet Saturn may have some meaning.
